discovering newgrounds cartoons in my late childhood was like finding the musky backroom of a club. a backroom where a bunch of gruff old guys shot the shit while knocking back doubles and infusing the dirty carpets with the repugnant stench of smoke. recounting their hilarious tales of daring youth; tales deeply ingrained in memory, bringing laughter with each recollection.

this was the very first cartoon i watched from the broader newgrounds animation community. crude in every sense, but so damn funny. i loved it, and i still do. it was so awesome to see a bunch of dudes in their bedrooms make all this shit, with all their unique touches shining through, unrefined but untethered. oozing with personality and playfulness.

thanks egoraptor and many other animators like oneyng, psychicpebbles, etc. for their work. and thanks newgrounds for making my upbrining better, and for being a safe haven for all sorts of creative work :)

I was like "hey that kinda sounds like Take No Prisoners." Then I read the description lmao

Cool as always

Solo toward the end is super fun

so viewing this submission
was a damn fine decision

The melancholic, filtered synth arpeggio, swaying back and forth from that calm Dm7 chord down to the BbM7 chord is really pretty. I particularly like the transition between the two, with that rubbing semitone between the E and F notes over the C note in the bass, before it continues to walk down. However, when ascending, jumping from the 2nd to the 4th degree before returning to the root note which sounds a bit more hopeful IMO. Nice touch.

The reverberating back beat is nicely syncopated against this steady arpeggio to create interest as the melody is introduced, with a effective two note motif. Beautiful synth patch on the melody BTW, I love the slight pitch modulation on it.

And then the string section, damn near got chills. Really beautiful and uplifting.

In repeating the verse, variation in the percussion as well as the added string voices develop the piece and round it off, with the final two notes sounding off as a triumphant sigh of relaxation.

I loik ih' may't, oye sher dew

Phenomenal animation with a great sense of form, and lovely colours too with some delicate hue shifting and soft, tinted outlines. No jaggie's in sight. Very easy on the eyes. Amazing work.

Lelouche is unmatched in his tactical genius, as is deftly illustrated by this work. Bravo.

Though it may only be due to my limited exposure to ZX Spectrum artwork, as I'm more versed in NES-PS1 eras, I must say: this is the most beautiful ZX Spectrum pixel art I've ever seen
