Metal Gear Awesome discovering newgrounds cartoons in my late childhood was like finding the musky backroom of a club. a backroom where a bunch of gruff old guys shot the shit while knocking back doubles and infusing the dirty carpets with the repugnant stench of smoke. recounting their hilarious tales of daring youth; tales deeply ingrained in memory, bringing laughter with each recollection.
this was the very first cartoon i watched from the broader newgrounds animation community. crude in every sense, but so damn funny. i loved it, and i still do. it was so awesome to see a bunch of dudes in their bedrooms make all this shit, with all their unique touches shining through, unrefined but untethered. oozing with personality and playfulness.
